Hi

I have just carried out the valve adjustment on my 1100 same way as I have undertaken many times before, this time i decided to check the end float something that I have not previously done.

I only adjusted one side the right because the other side seemed ok, problem is that the side that I adjusted is now making a strange noise. It is hard to describe a noise but it is a kind of whooshing sound. Looking back at what I have done it is only the end float adjustment that is different.

I followed the notes in the Wisdom section and tightened the t45 bolts to 9nm and the 15 mm hex bolt to 20nm plus 180 degrees. Can any one tell me if they have had any problems after doing this job. Could the noise be a result of the hex bolt not having been tightened correctly !! to pull through to 180 degrees beyond the initial 20nm took a bit of pressure.

Any ideas would be gratefully received :(:(

Make sure the spark plug tunnel seal is properly in place. It can make a wooshy noise if it's slightly displaced.

You probably already know this but it's important that you fit the seal to the tunnel in the rocker cover (don't leave it in the head). Then fit the rocker cover in one go - if you have to pull it back off at all, remove it completely , refitted the tunnel seal and start again.
