Valve guide clips???

How do you get them off??

Bought new valve kit with guides, springs collets etc, but seem to be struggling in getting old clips off.

Tried a pair of circlip pliers but they don't seem to want to spread! Any pointers would be appreciated

bit of progression.........

ok, so i've found i don't need to remove the circlips to remove the old guides, so that's sorted..............

however.... how the fudge do i fit the new circlips onto the new valve guides????? there's a thread on advrider suggesting that they are not 'necessarily needed' as they just act as a stop when installing them.

am i ok to not fit them or do i really need them and would that require any special tools?
