My rear valve stem snapped this morning when toppnig the air up? Had to get it recovered. Anyone else had this? The recovery guy said he'd seen it before with TPM.

Yes - had that problem too. It's a pretty costly mistake as it means a new valve with its TPM sender. Dealers don't tell you to use a flexible or angle valve extender for the garage pumps. I now only use the footpump at home.

What use is that up a mountain, on a plain..................away on your holibobs
My tyres hardly ever need 'topping up', perhaps these leak through the TPMs so it's a good job they're fitted else you'd never know.

Aye, never told me, and just looking in the idiot guide, no mention about using on in there either
Think I'll get some of these extender jobbies for if/when I ever need to top up the tyres while out & about

And yet another person to be worked over by a manufacturer fitting fekking stupid gadgets and gizmos in an attempt to re-invent the wheel and answer questions that weren`t being asked in the first place.
Still,while the Muppets keep buying this crap,they`ll keep fitting it....and promoting it as if it`s a 'must have'....or a 'desirable accessory'.
There again,I suppose it might be a 'must have' if you`re too idle or negligent to regularly check your tyre condition and pressure yourself.
Stop buying this shite and the problems will disappear.

I have TPS on my 650, didn't choose to have it, it was factory fitted but I'm glad I did. Last winter rode bike to work and as i was turning into work the warning came on to alert me to the pressure dropping in rear tyre. On inspection there was a piece of glass in rear tyre. It wasn't flat but pressure had dropped below recommended threshold. That meant i could call the RAC out during the day and he fixed it at a time that was suitable to me. If TPS hadn't been fitted the 1st i'd have known was when i came out of work at 5.30 and would then have had to call the RAC out, I would then have wasted my evening waiting for the RAC etc.
I guess you guys would have had the tools and knowledge to fix the puncture, I don't, hence I joined a breakdown recovery service

Whatever gizmo and gadget your bike has,you should be in a recovery scheme if you venture further than pushing distance of your home.
I have repair kits on my regular use solos...or spare replacement wheels/tyres in the case of my Urals....but have got to admit that I got stranded for a few hours last year on my Guzzi NTX while out on its first proper run...I was so elated at getting it on the road after a build up that I hadn`t fully equipped it with my normal repair/resurrection kit that I carry.
Still,my problem was a real puncture and not a fekking stupid gadget gizmo sold as a warning of low pressures.
You know fekking well if you`ve got a puncture related low pressure without a stupid electronic gadget to tell you.
But my point is that most of these modern bike problems...and 1200 ones especially..are due to fekking stupid and totally unneccessary overcomplicated gadgets and gizmos fitted to the bikes in the first place.

The monitor helped a mate whilst out on wet, muddy trails last year with his son on the back. Without it warning him,he may well have jumped back on the motorway for the journey home as this is where we were heading. He just thought it was the surface - turned out to be a nail!

I guess this is why these things are referred to as 'rider aides'. They are not supposed to replace common sense but all too often that's exactly what people expect them to do.

You must be getting a sore throat as well as the sore arse and neck ache by now.

Only a option that costs the punter a couple of hundred quid new and then £75 each when the batteries run out in the wheel sensors, after a few years (out of warranty, of course

Thanks goodness......I unticked RDC off the options for my new 30th Year GSA! Also ASC off the options.......see no point in using both. Less of some bother should things go wrong with these! I stil use my trusty Draper chrome-plated tyre pressure gauge for pressure readings!
