Vario box plate support

I have just bought a vario box with mounting plate from a member and I am having difficulty fitting the plate support bar.

I think that this came from a GSA but the seller said it would fit my 54 plate GS.

Is there a difference or am I missing something?

the support bar will fit both models no problem - what is the issue you are having?? Also do you have the 2 small cut outs on the rear rack to allow the support bar to reach the 2 mounting bolts? earlier model bikes didnt have the cut outs so you need to cut them out yourself

Thanks for the info. no cutouts appears to be the problem.

Should there also be spacers between the bar and the mounting points? As I have 1x spacer supplied.

Not that i am aware of, only spacer i have is where the mounting plate bolts thru the rear rack
