vario fitment? which bike

Decided to go back to Vario luggage after failing to find some ally boxes and bought this off eBay thinking it would fit my 2013 GS LC but it is the wrong fitment for the standard rack. It was listed as an LC box.
Can anybody identify which bike it is for please?

The LC vario box is taller than the older model. It look like a LC in the picture. I can measure mine for comparison.
There is a special rack insert you will need.

Do you know which box, if any, fits straight onto the rack without an adaptor plate?

At the moment it looks like BMW are taking the piss again, expecting punters to shell out more money to make the standard box fit the standard rack. Happy to be proved wrong though..

Mine is the standard rack from new and has a black plastic insert on the underside of the silver rack/grab rail piece. It hasn't been modified at all.

Yes, there's a special rear carrier fitment (see above) for the Vario box which replaces the standard bit. I know this as I removed one from my GS this morning! However, you can't have it as it's going on my to-be-collected new GS later next week.

The underneath looks like my Vario box - I just checked, as it's sitting in the boot of my car, waiting to go to the dealer to be key recoded ready for the new one.

What's the point of the standard rack if it can't be used to mount a box on?

The Vario box insert is MUCH heavier duty constriction than the bit fitted as standard. The mount points where the bolts (2) in the diagram go are substantially thicker.

FWIW, I doubt any box goes on the standard rack directly. Most (all?) aftermarket box manufacturers have their own fitting system which you have to use to put their gear on your bike. I like the Vario box, but it's bloody heavy.

Check out eBay for the fitment for a GS. NB, the bolts are longer than the standard fit as the construction of the 'plate' is much heavier and thicker.
