Vario Pannier Damage

Hi

Got back to my bike and a scoooter had fallen on my pannier causing damage a s picture- has anyone any experience of dismatling one? The ally covers must come off somehow- but apart from replacing the lid, I cant see how Id get it off to tap the dent out?

Unfortunately the alloy skin is bonded on to the plastic lid, you can't remove them. The idea is that you fit a brand new lid after damaging them by removing the hinge pins.

New Vario Pannier/Topbox lids aren't cheap. ISTR about £70 each but if you want a new one you are in luck, I have a new spare lid bought but unused for my previous R1200GS still in the BMW cardboard box complete with an R1200GS sticker (which is about £20 alone) gathering dust in my garage. No use to me anymore as I now own a GSA with alloy boxes.

Yours for £30 plus the postage costs if you want it.
