I'm in the process selling my 1200 and when showing a prospective buyer how the panniers work, put them on but one doesn't come off.
Lifting the red tab under the handle, the tab at the frame mount doesn't lift allowing the pannier to be lifted away.
This must have happened to others so can anyone give any help on how the pannier can be taken off and the problem sorted.
Many thanks in anticipation.

The cogs are part of the Vario mechanism to make the pannier bigger or smaller and don’t have any effect on the release mechanism.
I agree, but my release mechanism was very difficult to use but after I stripped it down, re-timed the cogs and lightly greased everything, it all worked fine. Maybe unrelated. 🤔

That must have impressed the prospective buyer :beerjug:
It was immaculate timing :augie :augie
Put then on, took them off, on again in all in the spirit of good salesmanship. Top box came off, right pannier came off, left pannier wouldn't budge. :blast:blast

Thanks for the replies so far.
The expand and retract mechanism works smoothly and I am sure is independent to the locking system.

Stupid question but have you tried locking it and unlocking it again?

The red leaver is restricted by the locking mechanism so if it’s not lifting the problem is most likely in that part.

Run it over to Grizz's he'll have something that will get it off, it might come back multicoloured if you're not careful so keep an eye on him.

I had tried everything but wouldn't budge
Locking mechanism working fine.
Managed to take it apart with the only difficult but loosening the screw next to the rear mount point which needed a bit of ingenuity (bodging :augie) to get it done.
The release but was as solid as a lock and the overlap of the two pannier pieces was full of accumulated gunge
Tomorrow I'll put it all back together.
I'll also take apart the other pennies and top box to lubricate the mechanisms

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I have known Grizz for so long I know to keep and eye him at all times.
He still catches me out regularly :cautious:
