Vario panniers and pannier bags

Packed up my troubles in my pannier bags tonight for my trip to Scotland, I think come the summer and my trip into Europe that the pannier bags will be left at home and good old ASDA bags will protect the gear if needed. The bags seem to take up as much space as your gear when trying to close the box! I suppose I'll look swankier though walking up the steps to the B&B with my matching hand luggage!!
