Vario Top Box - 1300GS.

Can someone check their vario topbox on their GS1300 please. I noticed this week that mine has the Lid sitting proud on one side when closed. Can't say I have noticed before. Seems to be latching OK, but the lid is kind of twisted.

First picture below shows the lid not quite down as flush as the other side, in the second photo.

Nope, the whole unit moves up with the hinges and locks.

Hard to tell, there is a gasket under there, but cant see if it is sealing as it shuts. Will pop a piece of paper in there and see if it grabs it, or not.. Have messaged the dealer to see what they think also.

From image 4640 and 4641 both sides look near identical, very slightly proud, image 4638 (across the back) looks like the right side is a bit higher. Be sure both sides are latching, also check the rubber seal, be sure it's pushed right onto it's spline, particularly along the dip across the back. Mine sits 1 ot 2 mm higher at the back compared to the front, it closes and latches perfectly. BMW does not guarantee perfect water tight on any of their vario cases, but they are pretty good. Only waterproof liners will guarantee

I would squirt a hose pipe at it. If it leaks it’s not fit for purpose.
