VARIO TOP BOX FITTING

I apologise if for some of you this appears to be a stupid question but I'm still new to the 1200gs.

I just bought a vario topbox from fleabay. It came with an adapter plate which appears to be missing the steel support. The adapter plate has 4 bolts, 4 sleeves, 4 self-locking nuts and 8 washers. Can the adapter plate be fitted to the luggage rack without the steel support?

It could all be fitted without the support but the mount is the flimsyest bit of flimsyness since flimsy things were invented so i would not want to go far with it.I had mine off a while back whilst it was zinc plated for about a week i rode to and from work and could feel the box flapping.
It is the only bit of metal that actually attaches to the metal work of the bike all the rest is plastic.Get a bracket.

You can buy a fitting kit from your dealer and it may well be the the metal arms are availble separately?

Mine also has No arms!--------Does anyone make them besides BMW ?

Part number 4 is what you have missing. It'is very unlikely that anyone other than BMW make one. If you don't have it fitted your topbox 'will' fall off.
