Dealership tells me that the GS vario top box is not recommended on the 1300 Gsa ? even thou it fits ok. I want stay with bmw panniers but don't like or need the massive Gsa metal top box. Does anyone know why its not recommended ?

Most likely because BMW feels it isn't tough enough for what they expect the Adventure could be used for. Certainly can't be a weight issue

Did you mount it ? I am thinking of doing the same and wondering if the electrics and locking work ?

My 1300 GSA was supplied by Bahnstormer with a vario top box, not sure why its not recommended?

I have one of my GS1300. Its heavy for sure, but it’s much better than the previous Vario. The central locking functionality, internal light and the overall design is great. My Neotec 3 “large” fits in snugly with the case fully extended.
