I came across this site which seems good value.

The Varta batteries are apparently the ones recommended by BMW, and hopefully won’t need replacing every few weeks.

Thanks for the heads up, mine was just on the way out!

Sorry to raise this thread again. I had the original battery in the fob for just over 2 years. When the 50% warning came up. I changed it to a Varta battery. Ride out, a few days later, stopped for brew 50% warning came up by time I got home Low battery limited function warning. Changed to a brand new Duracell couple of days ago. Ride out today stopped for brekkie. Yep, 50% warning and by time I got home limited function. The fob is kept a good distance away from the bike. Could the issue be the actual fob, anyone?

Maybe snide batteries.

check the battery contacts. After about 5 years on my R1200RS, the tangs that make contact with the side of the battery were weak so I had intermittent contacts. I just cut a small spacer from some plastic and wedged it in place to keep the battery pressed against the tangs. Problem resolved.
