Has anyone on this forum been charged any of the above in addition to their checkout price when buying a CarPlay unit from China? Either at the time or when delivered by the courier?

I bought a Carpuride last year and I wasn't.

I read on here somewhere that the Chinese Secret Service pay any vat and import duties, it helps make their job easier by encouraging people to buy equipment with covert listening devices embedded in them.

I may laugh and although I'm old and have a fading memory, I remember when the covid lab leak theory sent 'them' into a raving, salivating rage and 'we' were conspiracy theorists that should be hung, drawn and quartered and dragged through the streets blah, blah, blah. I'm pretty certain that any Chinese spy listening to my daily, banal rantings would soon go sick with suicidal ideations. :D

No. I I purchased considerably costlier CHIGEE.

The VAT and taxes are only added on, if the seller declares the value of the goods being shipped above these thresholds, which I can’t tell you what that is, but suspect somewhere in the region of ~£30 - ~£50.

Man in China, most definitely does know that. If you ever look at the shipping label (declaration part) the value of goods declared, is most probably ~ £20
