Just returned from the Vercors region in France - perfect GS roads, great weather and great hospitality at Hotel Le Marronnier in Recurel.

Not many Brits visit this part of France, I don't understand why, it is a beautiful part of France (just a bit of the beaten track), the Germans, Dutch and Belgians are always there in numbers.

Col de la Machine - check out post 13 onwards: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314958

This is good, though taken from a push-bike:

Superb road, lovely hotel, fantastic scenery. Also check out the "Ideal Palace" nearby - unbelievable!

Loads more of interest, including the Resistance memorial. Recommended! :thumby:

We have visited this part of France a couple of times on "day out" runs from The Drome area which is south of the Vercors. The climb up the Col de Rousset on the D518 / D76 from Die is spectacular and highly recommended. A visit to the Resistance Museum near Vassieux en Vercors is worthwhile.

great hospitality at Hotel Le Marronnier in Recurel.
One of the nicest places I've stayed, very friendly, very comfortable, good food and a great area to explore :thumb

Looking at Riders Rest next year :thumb

Not us, not enough time, there never is :(
