Very intermittent lurch around 4500rpm

I'm not sure about the GS911 and time stamp errors as I don't have one (it's arriving today or tomorrow). As the GS911 is a fault code reader I imagine it would read the all the fault code information which should include the date/time. This is providing the date/time reference on the ECU is correct. But this is all relative as if the fault has occurred since a known point when the log is clear it would give an indication providing there isn't another actual fault or error as well. There will be a more knowledgable GS911 user along shortly to confirm or deny this!
I'm not sure what to suggest re side stand switch other than do what they suggest on the GS911 site http://www.hexcode.co.za/techinfo/sidestand
with the workaround. It may be an idea to take the switch off the side stand but leave it connected and see if it does it. Alternatively, you could short the wires out as they suggest and that takes it out of the equation but it's permanent:eek:

I wonder if it could be down to the same issue i had the other day and that being water in the starter multifunction switch?? This didnt show any faults for me but i was getting the stater continually running, you could have the other side where the kill switch is intermitently latching??

Just a thought but would be an easy check for you simply take it apart and see if there is any evidence of water ingress.

Hope you get it sorted out...

well no news from the dealer today despite him saying he;d get thess switch fixed today..oh well

Just a possibility: My R 1100 GS had similar symptoms to your bike and we had severe difficulties in finding the reason. Finally it came out that the seal around the fuel tank filling orifice was broken and let water to enter into the tank during rain. So the engine got water-gasolin mixture. The symptom was healed by replacing the filter and cleaning the tank.

Oh well, Tuesday dawns and not heard a peep back from park Lane yet so can't comment. Thanks for the tip re fuel

Just to update all, as I know you can't sleep knowing what the issue was...An error showed up randomly as discussed above to do with the side stand switch. Apparently it does not log date and time or multiple occurences, just the possible fault. They then said they don't really rely on the 911 readout and usually do it by hand...so why oh why didnt they go through the logical issues that could cause a lurch..Anyhow, tired of it now but Park Lane changed the side stand cut out switch as that showed up in the logs. I have returned from a thrash around the Cotswolds and in the 360 odd miles the issue has now not re appeared. So I too now am convinced that was the issue...How it took so long for them to get to that solution is anyones guess but glad its not shown itself again..So good result that took 2 weeks of them testing/riding and £136 out of my pocket..

Glad its sorted. I had a similar problem on a Suzuki a few years ago. Exactly the same symptoms. Worked out then when accelerating/decelerating if there was a bump in the road at the right place the stand would move down slightly with the shock then return, enough to cut the engine then allow it to restart. Tightened up the stand bolt slightly and the problem disappeared.
