Very sexy stainless lower engine cover

Ha, funny man - and update

Well, the GS is in my warm garage and all I have to do is get my sad butt back home long enough to design a heel guard.

If I do not get chance this working week I`ll make a start at the weekend if I am not too mashed from my other hobby `alcohol abuse` :drool

As an aside, and if anyone is interested, I have just finished my `hobby` website for all the parts I currently do at www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk

I am not an it geek so it looks like a 5yr old has done it but it gives you an idea!

Love you all more,

Mark.

:bounce1

P.S. I have started off another thread (somewhere?) about what I should do next (?) but the rear plate looks too much of a job at this time which is why I am going for the heel plate instead though any help, images ideas or drawings on the back of fag packets would help!

NEW PART ALERT

:drool

Loyal Fans, do not despair, the latest part has been done. I remain The New Messiah :bow and god knows how I manage to leave myself alone

But seriously, I am happy with it and ready to get it on the forum shortly.

`Her indoors is right arsey, seriously, been doing daft hours recently and have become near obsessed with the stuff. A Touring Company is going to display my art (sorry, work) at the Excel in London at the MCN show this year - I am right excited :roll

Watch this space........... I`ll get the images uploaded after tea.

This kit allows you to `fill in` the larger left hand and right hand side panels to greatly reduce the `crud` which is thrown up by the wheel which tends to soak the backs of your legs (or at least, it does mine!).

They DO NOT stop all the road spray which can come through the panels when riding in the rain or dirty conditions but they do stop a significant amount of crud getting thrown over your legs.

The images show them fitted to my very own R1200GS and, once again, they have been made as expensively as possible yet priced at less than half the price of the plastic ones currently available elsewhere.

They are made from 1.2mm thick stainless steel which proves a very substantial alternative especially when compared to the plastic option. The panels themselves are slotted to allow some adjustment during fitting.

They have been initially laser cut for accuracy and then a great deal of time has been spent hand finishing them to ensure that every edge has been `smoothed` so that during fitting and usage there are no sharp edges to cut or mark the paintwork. To this end you will never find a set of covers exactly the same due to the time spent on the hand finishing process. For further individuality each set comes signed and dated by me which is etched on the reverse.

I have used the most expensive `P` clamps I can find to secure the panels which are also made from stainless and have rubber inserts to avoid frame damage and to stop any `chattering`. These are held in place by button head socket screws and nyloc nuts - also all in stainless steel.

The rear brake fluid reservoir remains accessible as does the rear damper knob. There is also a flange on the offside front cover which affords some protection to the rear brake master cylinder pipe.

The advantages over the other plastic side panel infills currently available are:

1.Mine are made from much stronger materials and will withstand far more damage.
2.Mine are around half the price of the alternative plastic ones.
3.Mine, in my belief, are more in keeping with the style of the R1200GS and go lovely with my engine crud catcher.
They come with fitting instructions but, in honesty, they are not the easiest things to fit. It took me 1/2 an hour, a 4mm allen key, a 10mm socket & wrench and a whole lot of patience to fit them!

The kit contains:

1.8 stainless rubber lined `P` clips.
2.8 stainless button head fasteners & 8 stainless nyloc nuts.
3.4 hand finished stainless steel panels.
In summary, a pain to fit but well worth it.
