One piston in my left front caliper was so badly seized that when I eventually got it to move it blew out what looks a like seal retaining lip which is part of the caliper casting.

On the basis that this looks like a new caliper required who is the best, quickest, cheapest source? I know that the quickest may not be he cheapest but as I don't really want to do East Mid on a suspect caliper speed is of the essence.

Have done a search and it didn't show up anything

Is this turning into a re-run of the bevel box oil seal/bearing saga ? :D

(That was useful, I have ordered a bearing and seal to take with me to Morocco - just in case :thumb2 .

Hope I don't have to carry spare calipers though :blast ).

Bob.

I hope not Bob but it may run to the line.

The caliper was in stock and hopefully despatched today so I'll wait and see.

Of course it won't turn up until Thursday afternoon. It will come without a bleed screw. The one in the old caliper will be seized. I won't have a brake pipe spanner the correct size..................................

At least that gives me a couple of days to source some Aluminium anti-seize:)

Maybe I should do my checking of bike more than 5 days in advance.

You will also need either a puller or a number of suitable wedges to shift the old bearing should it be necessary. I'm sure you'll have seen Steptoe's guide to kerbside (or should that read duneside) bearing replacement.:thumb2

The bikes only done 9,000 miles :blast

James Sherlock

To those of you who recommended James Sherlock many thanks.

I called at 09:40(ish) Monday and the goods arrived in Scotland Tuesday at 12:30hrs.:bounce1

It doesn't get much better than that:thumb2. Many thanks to James if you look in on this site.

And Voyager, there is even a bleed screw in the caliper:clap

Work to be done tonight then.
