My 2011 GSA twincam gets a bit vibey at 4500 rpm which equates to around 80mph in top. Valves and TB balance done at recent 6k service.
Does anyone else's do this?
My 1150 was similar.

Just picked one up on Friday. Yep mine does the same. Really noticable through the footpegs. My 1150 didn't do it. I managed to tune that out. Time to get a GS 911 and fine tune things.

try some of the BMW insert rubbers for the pegs, they work a treat :thumb

grip puppies help the hands as well

Got back from Cumbria and still can't feel my fingers mine was vining that much, did you manage a fix if so what did you do?

I am glad you said that. I was thinking of getting some at the weekend. Hopefully your right.

I'm popping it over to the dealer at the weekend to double check the valve clearances and throttle body balance. Also having footpeg rubbers fitted. Will let you know how it goes. Have a trip from Glasgow to Yorkshire soon so anything that smoothes it out a bit will be handy.

Mine was worse when new, has smoothed out now with 5000m on it. Not really a problem though, only some blurring in the mirrors. It's been serviced recently, including checking valve clearances, and that didn't improve matters, thanks to Cotswold BMW, Gloucester.

A demo bike had same vibes at 4500 rpm. Made my hands numb after a few minutes on the motorway. No buy.
Got a smooth bike at a different place. It started to show signs of these vibes after 30,000 km. Then I noticed that there was a bit of play in the rear wheel and when the wheel was turned it felt a bit rough as if the rollers in the bearings started to get flat. Replaced the bearings and the vibes were gone.

Fitted foot peg rubbers. Vibes in foot pegs now virtually nil. Recommended upgrade.

interesting comment

Mine is rough above 4500 in top gear, but in my case I dont think is the rear wheel bearing, because the same roughness exists above 4500 in lower gears. However, its only noticeable if I pin the throttle (which isnt too often on most roads) so hard to be definite about it.

Mine vibrates a bit when I crack the throttle open at lowish speeds in a highish gear, but it's only a transient effect and I should probably change down a gear- well I would if the gearbox was a lot less clunky. Never thought of it as a problem though.

I changed the gearbox oil last week. The old oil was clean but gear shifts are now much smoother. Mine is rough just above 2000 revs in most gears. I just avoid slogging it. But at 4500 and above it buzzes badly. Its a problem on the motorway because its exactly at the speed other traffic is doing its. For cross country riding its right where I use the engine most so I feel it accelerating from pulling on the bars.

I plan to have it remapped but expect the problem is more mechanical so I'm also working on some vibration absorbing hand grips.

what tyres have you got

i have a 11 plate GSA and it came with conti trail attacks which when i put in for service was informed they were delaminating and they were changed FOC to Tourances (non EXP) I now have the vibration in my left hand on M/Way and dual carraigeways so next change of tyres will be for road based tyres my friend uses the Road Pilots so might go to them, I have already got the rubber pegs and hush puppies.

I have Tourances fitted. Phoned up BMW Dalkieth and told them it was still a bit vibey after its 6k service. They sent a van over to Glasgow to pick my bike up and take it back to the workshop to check it over again. They reckon the vibes aren't too bad and perfectly normal.
2 separate mechanics checked it out so I'm happy enough.
Hats off to the guys at Dalkieth. Brilliant customer service. Will be taking my bike there for every service.
Had footrest rubbers fitted so that should help.
