Vibration at 5000 rpm - 2014 GS TE

Taking the bike back to Barnstormer tomorrow for BMW to investigate the vibration.

I really hope they resolve the issue as in May I'm off on a 4000 mile trip around Europe with my brother and a friend.

I'm getting a GS as a loan bike, so it will be really good to compare bikes. I'll post my feedback up after a few days re the comparison.

Dropped the bike off as arranged this morning and got a 2014 "14" plate GS TE as a lone bike.

The weather was awful, and riding conditions very poor, but one thing I'm in no doubt about after riding over 50 miles on the lone bike is, my bike does has excessive vibration.

The lone bike rides as I hoped it would, and the same as the other GS TE's I've ridden. Without doubt, mine has an issue.

BMW are looking at the bike Monday, so I'll update the thread after they have feedback to me.

Since you have the option to return the bike it is probably not of interest but it would be good to see if the vibration occurs on a rolling road. Then you would be able to trace the vibration by holding a vibration sensor on different parts of the bike. It appears there is a tuning company with a rolling road not far from you.

As it's going back to BMW, I'd guess that this is one of the things they'll try. I'm looking forward to knowing what the cause is.

I'm hoping it's a quick easy fix. Something like an engine mount, cam timing etc.

Truly hope you get it sorted out and there is a happy outcome for all. The GS is a superb bike to ride and own .

OK, quick update re this.

Steve from BMW technical turned up today and rode the bike. He arrived on a GS, so at least he was aware of the GS characteristics.

He felt the vibration was a "little more than expect for the a GS", so removed the engine guards. With the guards removed, Steve felt the vibration was significantly less than with them fitted.

As fitting genuine engine guards should not cause this issue, it was felt my engine guards maybe "faulty", so a new pair have been installed.

All the engine mounts have been slackened off, and then re-torqued up as well.

The senior Barnstormer tech is taking the bike home tonight to see if this has fixed the vibration issue, so I'll get an update tomorrow.

Fingers crossed, this has finally resolved it

Bmw uk only have one tech whom is mobile based: Steve bellars.
Strange tho if you ask him about the issues bods have had he reluctantly denies the WC having any issues ! I wonder how much BMW pay him to say that !

So confused how removing them again now could possibly fix your issue...

No. I picked my loss GS up Saturday when I dropped the bike off. Steve turned up today on his GS.
