Vibration when cornering at low speeds

I have recently bought a 1200gs 2009 model and have noticed that when cornering at relatively low speeds I get vibration similar to wheel bearing type. This happens up to about 40mph or so.

I checked the wheel and there is no roughness or play.

Could this be the additional tyre tread on the edges (metzler Tourance tyres). They are about half worn with deaper tread on the sides. Or is this just another idiosyncracy of the gs range?

Have you lost a balance weight? What pressure are you running?

It will be the Tourance tyres. If you listen you will hear them zing when cornering as well. Mine did it when I used them.

+1 Tourances are the culprit - my last two pairs all sounded like the wheel bearings had gone as they squared off (oh the shame of it!)

I would say tyres as well. Once the square off they do get a bit noisy and vibrate on cornering.

Yep, agree it is the tyres. I had 3000 miles on my Tourance EXPs....in tour in France over the next 500 miles they went off really quickly.....absolute shite in roundabouts etc. thought the bike had a problem....went into the BMW dealer in Tours who said it was the EXPs....they are shit....they always used to change them from new and wouldn't let a new bike go out with them if they were an OEM fitting. New tyres sorted it.

Smooth in straight line rough when leaned over can only be tyres. Unless handling is affected I don't worry about it.
