OK, that explains something....I hope. Is there a odd sized spline so as the drive shaft and UJ only fit on one way?
I've not had a driveshaft out yet but when refitting the rear bevel drive to the driveshaft sometimes I'm turning the bevel for ages before it engages the splines

Which was why, I was taught, you always marked your driveshaft when you replaced a uj; good old rear wheel drive.

What about the cv joint ? Anything on that or should I wait until an Engineer appears ???

1150GS - 2002 - non-adventure

Mine doesnt have a master spline, I belive that later ones do.

when i first had mine out I thought i had it phased but didnt. the bike would turn in to the right corners too easily, like falling in to the turn. Left corners it wouldn't turn in very easily at all.

Also when I had my complete drive train and paralever apart a few months ago i checked the alingment and found that whilst it looked right, it wasnt really quite right. I tried opposite and it was much better aligned.

Me neither!! I guess I must have been lucky when putting my 1150 back together in March. At least I never noticed any issues in the 3000 miles i did before selling it.

So that's why I can feel a thrumm thrumm thrumm through the foot pegs.

My drive shaft has been removed (not by me) a couple of times for gearbox repairs. Now the obvious question: how does one check it's phased correctly?

How long had it been doing that? Have you checked the FD for bearing play?

So...

On a mono lever bike there is always going to be this speeding up and slowing down of the prop shaft (shown at 1.00 in the vid) as there is only one UJ at the gearbox end and a bevel gear at the wheel end and it will change depending on the compression in the rear shock (as the angle changes in the UJ)?
