Hi all
have just fitted ohlins to my 1150 gs
the ohlins were from a gsa which in turn has made
the bike taller (no problem their) out for a spin on
sunday, bike suspension before was good ,now fanastic
but i can feel a small vibration on the bike, can not see
the ohlins causing a problem??????
an advice or suggestions would be great
Cheers Mark ps bored with the snow now

By fitting GSA-length shocks you have increased the angle that the UJ in the drive shaft runs at which will cause increased vibration. The Ohlins shocks aren't to blame as such, in that this doesn't mean they're faulty - you are to blame for changing the geometry by fitting a longer rear shock!

and therefore should sell them to me for a pittance:D:D:D:D:D

Have you got a worn Tourance on the back?.
Does the back "sag" as much as it did before?.

ohlins

I thought it might have something to do
with the length of the shock on the drive
could this be solved? cheers sproggy

now hang on Chad i have only just got them
any way its rude to sell christmas presents
even though i bought it myself:rob

The rear has only done about a 1000
miles just scrubbed in

The swinging arm is the same for both GS and GSA;its only the drive shaft thats different.(a bit longer to cope with thje extra suspesion movement i believe).Have you got the Ohlins set up correctly?.Was the previous owner a fat git who had the spring changed to a heftier one;if its too hard you might be feeling road vibrations.Have a fiddle with the spring preload and damping wheel and see what happens.

Drive shaft is the same length, the internal splines are a touch longer on the ADV shaft, but i've fitted standard shaft to ADV and vice versa in the past without any problems then showing up.

Maybe the new shock is stiffer than the previous, which may transmit more feel to you in the way of more vibration ?.

Good to know as i've got a std pair of ADV shocks to fit to my GS soon.

Ohlins

Thats the first thing that i asked how heavy he was
he is only a few pounds heavier than me
excuse the exspression----- from the rear (nasty)
most helpful thanks for your feed back and knowledge
