I've got a lot of avi files created by a divx system. I'm trying to edit the clips in windows movie maker and whilst the clips load when I try to split them all I get is an audio file (the new clip appears in the project list as a green box.

I've also got Adobe premier elements but it won't even load the clips saying it is an "unsupported audio rate in file"

Can anyone help?

export to reformat and standardise audio at 48K then re-import to adobe should be ok.

divx and all these different formats have compression issues....

good point... (I'm obviously stupid) there should either save as option or export media option, I would use export media, then it should offer you a drop down menu...

your export format has to be avi. but image needs to 720x576 with audio at 48K that should be ok

unfortunatley I'm not familiar with the software best of luck...

In Win Movie maker, I opened the file, pulled the whole clip into the timeline then "saved to my computer" as DV-AVI (all other formats save a .wmv) which pretty much keeps quality etc the same. From there I can use Win MM, Premier Elements or whatever. It's a hassle to have to do the whole save then edit and save again thing but at least it works!

Now I can get busy editing the 16 hours of video from RTB07.

Cheers.

it's a problem with all these funky formats like divix, flash video and mpeg 4 etc. cos they are very good shot and watch do to the very complex comression ratios and codecs and stuff but then you need to convert it to be able to make something from it....

best of luck....
