How is it done? I'm a complete numpty with computers so please help! :bow
Wapping has posted a route I want to view but can't. I don't know what I need to view it either! :( Can someone point me in the right direction as to what I need to buy. I've got a Garmin 660 and loaded the mapping cd if that makes any difference. :nenau

PM me your email address, please. I will then email you the route. That will make it easier.

Assuming you have Mapsource correctly loaded on your PC.... What do you see when you click on the route in the thread?

Right, I just tried to look at the route again and when I click on the linky thing a box pops up asking "do you want to open / save file. When I click open I'm then told "windows cannot open this file" and gives me 2 choices -
1, use web service to find correct programme.

2, select a programme from a list of installed programmes.

If I do option 2 nothing mentions a mapsource programme. Does any of that make any sense?

In the OPEN option do you have an option that says, 'Open with Windows Explorer'? If so, try that.

====

Try choosing, Save file, into a location you can remember.

Then open Mapsource.

Click on the Open button (looks like an open file), find the file you saved and click on it. It should open in Mapsource straight away.

Don't ask me how but I managed to open the file!:clap:roll:JB
And then the easy part was transfering it to my zumo!:bounce1
Ta for the help. :thumb2 I'm still a computer donkey though! :eek

As I suspected! Back to square 1. Can't open / view it again! :blast :mad:

If it is still zipped then you will need to unzip it first.

If you are using Windows XP or above then you should be able to do that without any other software - but if you want to make life a little easier then download and install WinRAR from rarlabs.com

Once unzipped, you should be able to double click the file and it will automatically open using MapSource.
