Don't know if this has been posted before but a mate sent me this site.
Type in the last 7 digits of your bike's VIN and it will decode it giving production date, vehicle code etc.

Also worth a look is the R1150GS register which allows you to lookup GS bikes registered and search by country / colour / VIN or other attribute.

Other model registers are also available by knocking R1150GS off the URL.

Mick,

check the number off your bike, not of your log-book - if they don't match - get the log book changed! If you were stopped abroad it could lead to, at best, a protracted period of explaining and delay....

Thanks Mike O, have just checked my bike and german docs, and lo and behold SPC have struck again and put a 2 instead of a Z on my V5 as well, tried it with a Z and the bike I have is correct.
