I need to get my K1200R serviced and live inbetween these 2 dealers.
Anyone used the 2 and has a preference?

Steve

both are very good I use Vines as I'm abit closer to them.:thumb2

Hi
Bahnstormer every time.

Just get quote in writing, they quoted me £285 and then wanted £340 on the day. Probably worth getting a quote for any BMW dealer as a couple of others quoted low prices when I was looking to buy a bike and now I own one their prices have risen all of a sudden (up to double what they originally quoted)

Both are great to deal with, but my 6000 mile service on Saturday is being done by Vines, as BS could only do mid week, and Vines beat their price slightly. Plus there's more to look at in Vines if you are waiting while they service it.

Do yourself a favour Give Vines a very very wide berth. I borrowed a 1200 off them to test ride, and the monkey who lent it to me didnt bother checking for damage on it. Looks like someone had dropped it, and not told them. Me being Mr Honest pointed it out and they tried to charge me £150 for a new rocker/cam cover, Bunch of :censor: cnuts.....

Bear in mind when reading this I do NOT work for Bahnstormers BUT they are always helpful, polite, actually do HAVE a sense of humour, and they tolerate me coming in for a look see even if they know full well I may not be buying a bike from them immediately.

I'm due some compo from a car crash and some PPI refunds soon, and when I do get it I'll be making a beeline for Bahnstormers, either in Farringdon, or the new place in Bagshot..

It's a free country and thats just my opinion, doesnt make it more valid than anyone elses, but then again it doesnt make it any LESS valid either.

P.S. Vines have a VERY VERY long memory and definitely hold a grudge... When I went there to buy a car with my money from the 1200(PLUS about ten grand saved on my debit card!!!) which I'd just sold they said " Due to the special relationship(WTF that means I dunno!! I think it means one of their "technicians" couldnt be fcuked to check out the bike they were lending me!!)) issues we have had with you in the past MR XXXXXXX we are unable to allow you on a test drive either, so FCUK EM my money went elsewhere.....

Such is life.....

Bahnstomers all the way. When i wanted to by a GSA. I was living nearer to vines than Bahnstomers, so popped in to vines, after being in the showroom for more than 20 mins (and it wasnt busy) eventually a sales rep decided he better come and ask if i want help. That pretty much made my mind up,
one visit to Bahnstomers now on my second GSA, perfect service from these guys, always friendly and willing to stop and have a chat with you. :thumb2

They weren't willing to explain why they had quoted me £285 but charged £340 for my service, they had the same info available when I enquired about the price as when the bike turned up. Regardless of if they quoted low to get me to book in, or made a genuine mistake I would have expected some sort of discussion, I was actually made to feel like they thought I was lying.

But that is the problem asking about dealers, you are always going to find happy and unhappy punters, it can come down to how the person serving you on the day feels and some staff are better than others.

If you find a dealer you trust then stick with them, even if they ain't the cheapest.

sums it nicely try'em out and see what you get, if you can't get on with one try the other. If you can't get on with both.... it might be you...:thumb2

Although I do my own servicing now I did get the 6K and 12K's done via a dealer while under warranty. They were very happy to email the quotes to me and itemise the work/costings for each. On the second service I supplied the oil as well which I had agreement for in advance, again written confirmation via email. This is the 21st Century after all. Might help cure some of your paranoia about dealers - just get it in writing first.

perhaps to get the best service, and everything done that needs to be done, you can't give a fixed quote?

i stopped doing that years ago.

I can't see why not ...its a fixed schedule of work and each dealer will do hundreds per year so know exactly how long it should take. If something unexpected crops up during the work thats not covered in the standard service they should call you to confirm you want it doing. Thats always been my experience anyway. There should also be no reason why a verbal quote cannot be given in writing either....if someones not prepared to do that I would walk away from it. IMO of course......

NOG have always sent me a written quote on request prior to the service being done and the actual cost of the service has always been exactly the same as that quoted. The only variable between the dealers will be the hourly labour rate and the cost per litre for oil unless the dealer adds something extra to the service like engine/fuel flush

It's simple really, get a written quote then you know exactly where you stand :comfort
