im going to try and tone down the redness of my bike ,into a more red/cream red/black red/? look .
dont want it to look like a postman pat bike ,as some one said .
done the usuall ,typed in vintage /old style /retro /etc but end up with the same images on google .
any one now where else i might look ,allso tried classic bike etc .
looking more for images ,then text .
would there be a data base of old harley colour schemes ,doesnt have to be harley ,but do like the older style colours .
just thought as its red ,its a good starting point .

I'd leave it, looks good to me :thumb2. My old Panhead was all Pepper Red, a standard HD colour in the early fifties.

The plain red was good enough for the duo glide and looks sweet

An ivory or white insert on the tank would set yours off nicely with out being too try hard.

I agree Dave. A retro feel for me is tres chic if it is done in a less is more kinda way. Lets be honest here, all HDs are bloody retro anyway.

I reckon an Ivory panel on the red tank would be pretty damn cool (with a black pinstripe around it. Not like the shape that is in the picture above as (for me) that spoils the lines of the classic fat bob style tanks. I would do it as per this tank (possibly-maybe) which follows the lines of the tank. It would keep the cost down as well. But then again it aint my bike.

Ooh ooh. How about doing the panel in a satin finish (bit of a bugger keeping it looking good though)

SICKBOYZ CUSTOMS on face book have a look at there paint jobs that'll give you ideas. It might help

A good place to look for inspiration may be 'ere:

http://greasykulture.blogspot.co.uk (magazine I subscribe to) but also a blog

And 'ere, another blog fer instance:

http://southsiders-mc.blogspot.co.uk

There are links there to dozens of other blogs. They are mostly about the Old School Chopper scene thingy and there are some absolute beauts amongst them. None of your billet and fat back wheel mega buck rubbish. It could give some ideas for classic styles of paint. I can lose myself for hours amongst them.
