If one was considering visiting this most desolate land is there anything the adventurer would do well to bring with him?

I was thinking maybe sweets for the children, pencils for the village schools, old spectacles, an assortment of basic medical supplies.

Where is the best place to buy detailed maps?

If any Scottish people living in one of the bigger cities that has access to the internet could assist it would be a great help.

Maybe we could look at a charity ride up there next January?
