After a long-ish ride out today but spoilt early on by my visor steaming up cos of the cold n fog, has anyone had any luck using these so called anti mist sprays at all, or do we all use the Fairy liquid idea ?????

I use the Fog City visor inserts and I swear by them. Double glazing for visors. I used to use it when racing in the wet and it never steamed up no matter how wet it was or how hard I was breathing.
Pinlock inserts as supplied by the likes of Shoei do much the same thing but I prefer the Fog City ones because they glue onto the visor. I've had Pinlocks leak water between the pinlock and the visor and IMHO that's worse than having the visor steamed up with no insert because you can't clear it without removing the pinlock.
You can use fairy liquid / visor demister sprays (and I've even heard of people rubbing a cut potato on their visor) but none of them come close to using a Fog City.

Or get a helmet with a built in flip down sun visor and keep it polished with MrSheen

I got some when it was demonstrated to me at the classic motor show the other week (I believe the guy was also at the bike show the following week). It's apparently hydrotropic, as opposed to hydrophobic (boo!) and behaved pretty impressively in the demo. I got some for a mate, but haven't found out if it actually works or not - I use a pinlock and have never had any problems - after I realised I had to remove the protective cover first (doh!)

Fog city inserts rock. Bought a pink stick at the bike show about 15 years ago. Probably still in a drawer somewhere, used once or twice and then left there.

I have a Pinlock visor but will be trying a Fog City insert on a spare. Have a Schuberth S1 so that has the drop down visor, and I use Fog Tech liquid on my glasses to stop them misting up to.

You won't regret it. I would'nt use anything else. never had a problem with them and I always put one on when I replace a visor.
Nearest place that have em on the shelf is in leeds, 60 miles from here. A perfect excuse for a ride me thinks. . . . . . .

Its about time they made heated visors, they make heated everything else. Until then pinlock gets my vote but only because I have one and haven't used a fog city.
BMW used to do a heated visor for the old system 2 helmet. I remember lusting after one of those when I was a poor courier, would have been fantastic. Never figured out why they stopped making them.
