Visordown's First impressions of the new GSA Ride

"It pulls from nothing"

Not strictly true, now don't get me wrong I love the new wc engine but it does not like being under 1800rpm !!

Steve

Correct - the GSA has an extra 950g at the flywheel to smooth things out ...

New 2014 engine has increased flywheel mass should solve that issue :rob

Why is this not being offered to early adapters? It's disgraceful. First stearing dampers and reshaped radiator guards; now this! Outrageous. They should do a complete recall and fix all the bikes, tomorrow, before breakfast!

What issue - the standard GS keeps the same flywheel and will retain it's sportier feel as a result ;)

Will be interested in a back to back test to see what difference it really makes :)

Thats interesting as today I rode a Feb 2014 GS and the front engine castings have changed. The dealer said it had a different clutch assembly and the gsa flywheel. Wonder what is factual? The gearchange was predictable, neutral was present and correct from 1st and the bike seemed much 'tighter' than the 2013 model but it was white!. It was smoother as well at low speed but not sure that is a good thing.....or thingy.....or need to have......or a benefit.......or.....

Here we go :augie:popcorn:D

The war is looming, rumour and counter rumour stalk the streets. Men who were once brothers are now sworn enemies, divided by a year and model. It won't be over by Christmas.

Yeah, here we go, nothing like a rumour; READ ALL ABOUT IT, STANDARD GS NOW HAS GSA FLYWHEEL :augie true or false

Excuse me, but won't "increased flywheel mass" make it slower to pick up from low revs...or I am I just thinking of the laws of physics?

:rob

p.s visor down review not worth reading with no real world riding reviewed in that report.

Hang on here.......the bloody dealers seem confused or in the know or are secretly changing the flywheels. Maybe BMW have lost the plot now the engines are built in Vietnam ?

Heavy fly-wheel, slow damped steering, brushed with the ugly stick? No 2014 GSA for me!

It's looking probable that the 2013 GS WC was the pinnacle of several decades of GS models. The diamond in the crown.
