As in title. Just got myself a dashcam and works well but when I try and play back video on my pc it wont. Media player which is supposed to play avi files wont play
Went to manufacturers web site and says down load a player, which Iv'e done. Now get this message VLC could not read the file (Bad file descriptor). called a mate up who has the same model and like a bad joke he says No mine wont work ether. Any ideas how to get it to play
Thanks

If vlc can't play it, it's a very very weird codec, or the file is corrupted. Probably the latter I reckon.

Have formated the sd card in the camera and taken a short video on the lowest resolution settings. Camera shows up as Mass storage unit on computer, tell it to open file with VLC but still getting same message.
How would I go about checking the file is corrupted and is there a solution maybe a download fix?

Quick update: If I take the sd card out of camera and use the card slot on computer to read it all plays ok!

Hi chaps, do you think VLC would work on my iMac ? I have a similar problem with my dash cam. Used to download it on a Windows computer and it worked just fine with short video sections but now on the iMac it just opens each section as a still photo.

i use VLC on 3 macs and it plays everything i throw at it :thumb2

i also sometimes use another app called Moveist

We went through something similar with video shot on a friend's Go-Pro. Turned out the EBay San Disk SD card was a fake. It would format to 16GB, and would claim to have recorded video but we could not get it to playback on anything.
