Mate is experiencing an issue using his packtalk as intercom and to receive nav instructions , as soon as he joins group chat on the packtalk he stops receiving voice guidance from the phone ??
Any ideas.

Tell him to just look at the sat nav screen. It shows which way to go.

I highly doubt this is a problem with the packtalk - as I use this exact same setup as do alot of people I am sure.
The first question is, what phone is he using and secondly, when he joins 'another' item is it a cardo unit?

New and newish phones can in general support multiple BlueTooth connections and so can the packtalk - if it is an older satnav, it might be that this does not support multipoint connections (what satnav is it?)

IPhone 11 and navigation is my route app on his phone

that sounds like a more simple setup than what i have......i have no idea of iphone versions.....11 is old and as far as i know and apple have/had their own BT implementation.
Someone else needs to chime in here about iphones.
I use android (myroute app/waze/google maps) -> carpuride -> packtalk -> other packtalks and it all works great.

I suspect this is an iphone issue.........easy to sort out, get a friend to pair a newer phone and see if the same thing happens.

I had the same issue. You don’t lose the navigation, it’s just so quiet that you can’t hear it. It only happens as soon as DMC connection is made, even if nobody is talking. If you get far apart and lose connection the volume goes up.

There is a setting in the Cardo app. I can’t remember the exact name, but it’s a slider called something like “background music level”. That needs to be up high.

It may also be worth him going into this screen and clicking on the play sample button, and adjusting the volume while it’s speaking.

Incidentally there was a bug in a recent version of MRA whereby the audio would go very quiet. Clicking that play sample button was enough to restore the volume.

If none of the above works, get him to try playing music and seeing what the volume is like while you are connected. MRA outputs the instructions as music. There used to be a way to change it so MRA simulated a call (Cardo stores separate volumes per audio type), but I’ve just looked for it and can’t find it.

Few things: When pairing the headset with the nav (with your helmet on) you will hear “pairing with iPhone 1” but if you twist the volume knob on the headset you can change this to “pairing with gps” this is what you want.

Next go to apps on the Zumo -media player then look for a symbol of two jack plugs, click this and make sure it is connected to “Bluetooth iPhone 2” .

Next turn off Bluetooth on nav and connect cardo to phone, on app make sure voice commands are switched on and make sure language is set to English and not American English, disconnect cardo from phone and re connect with nav.

Just realised I included information about MRA as I was convinced I read MRA in the OP.

Just ignore the bits about MRA, as I was too late to edit.

The issue of volume when DMC connects (even with nobody talking) is very well documented on the Cardo Packtalk Facebook group.
