I know I had a couple of problems when I first fitted the 2610 with dodgy connections and such but they seem to be OK until just recently. Now after about 35ish miles (just on yer normal! metalled roads - as the outfit don't do off-road intentionally) Betty loses her voice. A crackle can be heard on the intercom as she gives out info, but no instructions can be heard.

Luckily this last weekend I knew where I was going, but as usual Betty took time out when I got to the bit where I was going to go a different way. When I arrived at my destination and left her alone for a while turned her back on and she was back from her hols.

So, question, is it possible that the vibes Betty's been getting (she does shake somewhat in the sidecar) will cause her internals to break down and when not moving to be OK?

Anyone else had this problem, or know of a knowledgeable contact at Garmin I can chat with (and phone number)?

Thanking you all in advance for your assistance (or in some cases abuse)

Lee

Its probably the 2.5mm jack plug. Lots of folk have had problems with them. The cure seems to be to shim the male bit out with tape. I read a link on this recently but can't find it. To check the unit stick it on the car adaptor with the speaker and make sure betty is talking to you. Cheers :)

Thanks Mzokk, but did that one a long time ago, and it was one of the first checks I made when Betty went dumb.

I was told the contacts on the "slip in" plug at the back of the unit corrode/furr up quite readily. Worth giving the contacts on the plug and socket a good clean perhaps?

Thanks Paul, I'll give that a go when I'm out sorting the indicator that has come out in sympathy with Betty :thumb
