After a reboot of my laptop this morning the volume control and network icons have not reappeared in the System Tray on the bottom right of the screen? :nenau

I did right click on the System Tray and for some reasons the options are now greyed out.

So does anybody know how I can restore them please....the OS is Vista.

Don't use vista anymore, but from memory -

In the control panel, Sounds and audio devices - make sure 'place volume icon in the taskbar' is ticked. In network connections - click properties of your Local Area Connection - make sure 'show icon in notification area when connected' is ticked.

HTH

Edit - they may reappear if you untick 'Hide inactive icons' on the taskbar properties image which you've posted.

Dansin, you're a star mate:thumb, I deselected the Hide Inactive Icons and that did the trick. I see you live in Ombersley, I go through there quite frequently on my to see friends who live at Little Hereford a couple of miles the other side of Tenbury.

No problem, glad I could help. :aidan

Lovely road out to Tenbury - part of 'quick Sunday morning loop' - Ombersley, Tenbury, Leominster, Bromyard, Worcester and back to Ombersley.

Yep, I've done that route, sometimes I do it in reverse and stop at Slaters Laverda to do some tyre kicking!
