So, by what percentage have accidents and therefore injuries reduced since ABS has been introduced some 20 years ago? I mean if any system is that effective, you'd see some result and I'm not talking about some braking distance numbers taken in some parking lot.

This relates to cars, but since having ABS I have'nt hit anyone, had two non ABS cars hit me :(

I wonder if Dr Alias would be so anti ABS if his companies' system was used by BM?

At the risk of repeating myself.... Y A W N

Four bikes in Germany in November, on snow and ice... the only 'bike to go down was the only 'bike with ABS.... Y A W N - Y A W N

Gosh I'm tired :sleep

And if they had ABS, they would have hit you all the same.

It is all between the ears. I'm accident and insurance claim free for over 30 years of driving/riding. The laws of phyiscs are just that and nothing can change them.

causing injury through negligence

short update

Since 03/10/2006 we do have a new article that deals with (mandatory installation of) ABS on motorbikes, it's in German language (you might use Google translation if you are interrested) and there is alos written, that the prosecutor is investigating the case in "causing injury through negligence".

German article is here: http://www.motor-kritik.de/common/06031010.HTM

Let's face it, it ain't gonna happen......not in our livetimes anyway.......cars have had ABSfor many years (Jenson,60's?) and although it's pretty much standard, it's certainly not compulsory.

You say that but bikes tend to be the target of some wierd new initiative more often than cars: partly IMO, because its minority group with quite a high profile: eg every car driver has an opinion on bikes and its rarely a good one, so some civil servant boffin sees an opening: remember the proposed 100 BHP ban in the nineties in the European parliament?

I agree its unlikely, but I would not use cars as a benchmark for that logic, though...
