Hello esteemed members of the forum

I’ve been meaning to increase my vynil record collection for some time, I’m of an age when records where the most important thing in a teenager’s life. I do have a decent collection but wish I had more as I’ve set up my record player and built myself a nice system and appreciating the sound of vynil again.

I’ve always been too late when Orinoco lists.

So here goes. What do I like?

Everything, rock (heavy and soft), 70’s, 80’s, some pop, song writers such as Joni Mitchell, Neil Young….,.you get the drift.

I would rather buy from a forum member, haven’t got the time to attend fairs etc.

Ok, what you got gathering dust?

You may already know that it's Record Store Day next weekend? For new rather than secondhand of course.
I'm hoping to pick up one or two albums at my local independant place.

My local 'micro pub' have a new and used vinyl event this weekend.

'Ales on the Green' Warlingham, Surrey.

Free pint for every £25 spent.

I would never sell a record, even those I don't particularly like any more, they are my 'diary'. I was a prolific buyer of punk, new wave, house, acid, and some of my purchases are now worth a lot of money. £500+ for a first press of Joy Division first album etc

Still got several boxes of vinyl. I bought a digital turntable to load them onto computer but never got round to it. I'll have a look at the w/e and send you a list by PM.

It can go two ways. I have met people that have digitalised their collection and hence selling them. Others like you and I see it as an extension of our lives/experiences.

A digitalised copy wouldn't hold any pleasure for me. There's something about the notes and artwork on an album cover that I love. I even like the smell of a record when it's pulled from its sleeve. I have hundreds of CD's too but I'm not sentimentally attached to any of them. Friends that digitalised their albums and sold (or simply threw away ) their collection always look jealously at my collection now. There is a very active music scene in Medway near where I live and seeing the bands and buying their music is a great pleasure. Check out how many albums local artist Wild Billy Childish (and the many other names he performs under) has released, even I only have a small selection of them, but other locals such as The Prisoners, The Masonics, The Wilderbeests to name only a few are easier to keep up with

Many thanks. I look forward to hearing from you
I've just started to go through various boxes and the first one is mostly (I think) from my FIL's collection, so Mantovani, Sinatra, Abba etc. Found some which may be of interest,
Led Zeppelin II, Atlantic K40037
Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, CBS 96000
Lou Reed Transformer, RCA INTS 5061
Stevie Wonder Inner Visions, EMI STMA 8011

I'll find MY collection soon - I hope.

Found some more. I'll just put the artist and if anyone is interested then I can provide further details. None of these are recent issues.

Kate Bush
David Bowie (2)
Captain & Tennille
Roxy Music (3)
Fleetwood Mac
Mike Oldfield (single and boxed)
Michael Jackson
Nilsson
Led Zeppelin
America
Elton John
Wishbone Ash
Lindifarne

Loads more but will see if anyone is interested first
