After a six week spell off road, the GSPD will be back soon.

Wiring harness went up in a cloud of smoldering plastic fumes (which was kinda unerving as I was riding it at the time and it had a full tank). It needed a whole new harness and as this was beyod my capabilities, I enlisted the help of a local spannerman who has been doing the work. Dreading the bill mind!

Mine did that a couple of years ago while parked inbetween 2 brand new toyotas at a dealership :bounce1 I got a 2nd hand loom from MW and keep an eye on it :hide hope it dont happen again, side cutters are in the top of the tool kit :D
 
mine did the same as you but was a 1993 gs and i got a new harness of nw and just layed the new one on top of the old one then one plug / conneter at a time changed over the harnness in half a day with out a bmw book.
