Waht is this 2006 GSA worth?

Ok guys, your're the experts. What's this worth?

It's a 2006 BMW R1200 GS Adventure with 72,427 miles, 1 owner form new and the service history is all BMW dealer as follows:

19/04/2006 - 943m
02/08/20065 - 6,608m
06/10/2006 - 11,592m
11/04/2007 - 18,436m
18/07/2007 - 23,889m
08/12/2007 - 29,889m
09/05/2008 - 34,751m
25/10/2008 - 41,095m
05/05/2009 - 47,552m
04/09/2009 - 54,536m
20/02/2010 - 59,832m
16/06/2010 - 66,289m

It has heated grips, ABS, fog lights, pannier frames, on-board-computer and with a new pair of tyres fitted less than 200 miles ago.

It's in reasonably good condition for the age/mileage. There is a bit of corrosion on the front engine cover.

Its passed the HPI Check, taxed until 31/03/2011, MOT 19/02/2011 but NO panniers.

Is the engine casing replacement a cheap and easy replaced cosmetic fix?

The mileage is fairly high but has been well serviced... what do you think???

He is just after a sensible opinion on value i think,probably not £12:blast. It is for sale by a main dealer on ebay.

I see someone has bid 4k for it, personally i wouldnt give a penny more than that for it , i may be alone saying that ??

Just trying to get an idea of its value so I can decide whether or not to pull the trigger. Going to have a look over it 2mora and take it for a test ride. :)

If there are some good deals in the 'for sale' section I'll sign up and gladly pay that £12 subscription. When or if I ever become a GS rider/owner I will be signing up proper anyway.

All advice gratefully appreciated.

Nothing wrong with a test ride and a look over it ,and if you can find out whats been done to it in the past, final drive replacement etc .If you do buy it i would insist on a long warranty or they offer you an extended one within the price ,with milage its covered just to be on the safe side :thumb2

Yes i agree they can especially with the service history its got , just a good check of all the common problem bits i suppose you could say i was trying to get across and plump for warranty :)

warranty direct will though wont they , but you pay a percentage on the parts on the higher milage one,s ?
 
What are the things to really look out for then when I check it over and test it? This is what I've heard about the 2006 model:

  1. The ABS servos are generation 2 (08 till current are 3), that they're are still good ABS but the servos don't last as long and fail a tad more than usual.
  2. The 2006 has the a kick stand sensor that is mounted in a poor position and can breaks causing the bike not to start... a la Long Way Down but Touratech sells a cover I believe.
  3. The air intake is a little smaller but only a small reduction in horsepower.
  4. The ECU and wiring is a pain in the ass if you ever try and wire up extra lights such as a LED tail light or HID.

It is the transition year from R1150 to R1200 after all?

£4k seems about right to me but corrossion aside its more about how it rides and FD maybe an issue on these early 12adv worth asking Jonno of adv warehouse to have a look if you can afford him:D

That's just what I was thinking!

It's had one owner a full service history and somehow against all expectations for an 06 'first generation' 1200GSA has managed to cover a totally astounding unbelievable 72000miles........!:eek:

If my GSA30 looks as good as that after 72k i'd be over the moon.

There should be enough 12GSAs around by now for Motorworks to have a never ending supply of spares.

Or are all of these 1200s going to be like 'Triggers broom' by the time they're ten years old.
