Waiting for a 550>£350 delivered

Just got back

Me and Mrs. Spotless have just got back from our annual visit to the UK to check my Dum and Mad are OK and that our son is working as hard as he should be so he can look after us adequately in our old age!!!!....

Anyway.....just to say say thank you to Mary Minitool....our Zumo was waiting for us at D & M's safe and sound plus a couple of goodies!!!!....many thanks Mary.

Mrs. Spotless fired it up and we whizzed around the UK seeing various folk successfuly and it even found our place when we got back across to this side of the water.....

Now we are trying to learn to use it properly!!!!!....''ere, Mrs. Spotless....what's that switch over there for???''

Safe riding

Mr. & Mrs Spotless

Zumo 550 for £333.75

CBFer, Thanks for that tip, have just been on to Halfords and ordered mine.

B@st@rds! Been waiting and watching prices for weeks, finally gave in and ordered it on Thursday for £370 inc postage. Then you post this!

Never mind. Will flog Quest to go towards it...

In reply to Bobcat's question ...
I wasn't sure either ... have a TT1 Europe that I've used around the UK and in the US, so all the mapping had been purchased. Had the Zumo for two weeks and I think I'm happier with the Zumo. The cameras go on easier (I use the Pocket GPS database) and as 'Er Indoors uses a TT1 for work it saves having the TT subscription for only one machine. Setting up POIs on the Zumo is quick using the uploader, and on the TT can be a faff if there are several databases.
I'd only just discovered how to get routes from Autoroute into the TT, but have been using that for the Zumo as well. I'm computer capable so I'm used to using different bits of software to share applications and output what I want. Mapsource is just another bit of software (which I need to get my head around and stop being lazy) but it will probably make life easier. I didn't want an included Bluetooth headset as I'd rather have cables (if I'm on the road and camping I don't often get the chance to recharge from mains power)
Why the Zumo? waterproof, good mapping, can play tunes, quicker to configure and upload routes, POIs etc in a single operation. And there is a lot of routes etc for Zumos and a much better user community than the TT.
On the road the Zumo is better at calling up the POIs and gives clearer information (from the Pocket GPS database) and recalculates without as much fuss as the TT. On the downside I haven't found how to change the warning sounds yet (but then how many bing bongs do you want? The TT has a wide range).

It's only a small edge for me at this point, but the Zumo takes it ...

Hi, many thanks for posting the info about Halfords!
Does anybody know if it comes already with the latest City Navigator v.10?

Thx!

I think if you buy a 2008 Garmin product and it has not got the latest available mapping you can get the upgrade free.

Well you used to be able to do this.

Can let you know on tuesday for sure when mine turns up :thumb2

Jon :)

Got one from Halfords too :thumb2
Considering they're charging over €450 for the Zumo 400 In-Store here in Ireland I'm fairly happy!
Had to get a friend in the UK to buy it for me though.

I do hope no one laid out the extra for the express delivery - my standard delivery was here today :thumb

Now off to read Zumo Zen Waldin's threads and start asking dumb user questions :D

Mine isn't here yet. B@st@rd thing. Cost me £40 more, and take slonge rto ge there. :(

Maybe the delivery van's lost. :D

Post your questions here so we can all see them, laugh at them publicly, then learn from them privately. :augie
