This may actually make more sense!

And of course it's not just £6 for each of these lovelies - there's the obligatory BMW fifty page manual containing just three pages pertaining to the install!

Thanks mate.
Had a look at the bike - it appears to have the 4 weird bolts plus the long one attaching the current less-than-impressive standard sump guard thingy to the sump . So I can assume I have all required kit and just need to buy the bash plate?

Remembered i had this thread going. thought id show you what the 8 looks like now. almost finished, just want to raise the bars and get some rad protection and headlight protection.

Yep - that's all of 'em. I know some plates come with bolts but i think these are well designed both in terms of shearing at the right time and in dampening any shocks - particularly if you're looking at gravel hammering the plate.

Jonno,

The bolt you have for ya plastic teatray are the ones you need, the 650 doesnt have a bashplate as its a road bike.

One word of caution, the rubberised bolts are a bastard to get off, you will need a long thin socket, I bought a spark plug socket from Wilco's in the end, and still buggered one of the bolts. :blast

Upside is, dealers tend to keep one or two in stock for the same reason....

Good luck!

Rich

Wow i had forgotten all about this thread.

I still have my 800, this is what it looks like now

I only stick the bash plate n if im going off road, less weight and all that))

Jonno the metal mule screen is just right for me, i am about 6 ft but i like a bike with a bit of wind rush so at about 100mph its a bit uncomfortable but below that its fine. Also the guys at AS will sort you out if you ring them. the bash plate comes with everything you would need to fit it.

Gunz, i have actually still got those rubber pegs on and they were fine for weeks of off roading in Morocco last year so i guess as im used to them i think they are staying:thumb

Oh and i forgot to say i had a fairly low speed off on a main road last week. the bike went down fairly hard on the laft side and the only damage was a few scratches on the crash bars and a bit of a twist in the handle bars. all sorted within 20 minutes. just hope my big toe stops throbbing soon as it was caught on something when i jumped off))
