I'm not sure how many folks actually look in the WTB section, so posting a shout-out here !

I need a front wheel ABS sensor for an R1150 GS registered in March 2002, fitted with ABS II (Not servo iABS, which is post 09/02)

The fiche sites tell me that pretty much all oilheads and K-brick bikes post 1993 used the same front sensor, part number - 34 52 2 331 289

Sherlock, Motorworks and Motobins do not have any second -hand front ABS sensors.

If anyone here can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

When I tried to get a 2nd hand one, eventually I found one for about £20 off the price for a new one from BMW.

there's some on ebay but not cheap, the problem being they seize in the fork as the fit is (pointlessly) tight and there's a dimple that fills up with corrosion. i replaced one a while back it was actually cheaper to buy a fork lower with one seized in and ended up cutting it out!. Can prob be pressed out if you have a press and can jig up the forks, but i didn't so went at it with a dremel, which is slightly silly but there we are. Make sure you grease the hell out of them and take them out and regrease every so often!

Bumping this up, still looking for a pre-09/02 ABS2 front ABS sensor.

I ordered one from eBay which was listed as pre-09/02, but was for iABS 🤬

I checked the resistance of the rear sensor (pre-09/02), which read 132 ohm.
The iABS sensor indicates 8.2 Meg ohm.

Do I assume that the ABS2 sensors are true passive devices whilst the iABS sensors are active ?

I found a 150 ohm resistor and bridged the front ABS connector under the tank.
After resetting the error code with GS911, both ABS lamps are now flashing in sync.

That’s encouraging, the ABS2 passes the static test at startup !

Did you manage to get the sensor?

I have a 2000 single spark 1150gs I’ve been stripping down, I tried to get the abs sensor out but it’s welded itself into the fork leg… if any use to you pm me…
Thanks, Matt.
