I have a 2008 Bmw R1200 GS Adventure, with 46,500 touring miles, that I may consider selling, due to seeing a car I really like and my bike is not getting used (72) might have something to do with it.
My bike, was purchased 2 years ago, looked for ages for one with No-ABS and No-ESA, bought from a dealer in Durham, which was sent to me, I went over it and found a couple of things wrong, which was rear shock was burst, ignition switch intermittent, front wheel bearing rumbled slightly, all sorted. Bike has not been out for a run since Mot in September 2025.
Good tyres, Delkevic stainless steel, slip on exhaust and SS slip ext. pipe, as new. New GS brake lever pedal c/w extender, Lower footrests with rubber inserts, GS gear lever much better IMO, Ext. side stand footplate, mud plate on main stand, and mud catcher over rear wheel. Front mudguard extender. Tool Box.
Fitted with a Wunderlich Comfort seat front and rear, OEM seat is near perfect.
Full set of alloy panniers, c/w inner bags, top box, one key fits all, 2 keys, fitted new spot lights and spot bar, new Heavy Duty Motobatt, double poled battery, still under warranty. New fully adjustable mirrors, indicator canceller.
Private plate R12HXH goes with bike. plus all OEM parts changed over, for new.
Exhaust is Road legal with removable baffle, much lighter than OEM, new engine guards, etc etc.
Sellers guide price of £4,395.00 would buy it. Delivery with your own courier or travel up by train or plane, I can collect you by car, return to my house, you can ride it home...or go via Italy no problem.

Meant to add, Valve check done in September 25 along with a full service, including new alternator belt.
What's not to like? I would happily buy one as good as this. Any day.

This guy was offered my late 2011 DOHC for £4500 and apparently its too expensive, too far away from him even though a train one way was only £64 and he's seen many much cheaper with lower miles... Mine has 45000. He really wants a Honda but doesn't like the chain on a DCT so apparently the GSA is 2nd best.
I think he wants a 2013 DOHC GSA with 9000 miles, one careful owner and lives two streets away from him for the bargain deal price of £1500 cash......... anyone in Exeter can you message this guy please

As it happens yes mine is now gone. Just bought a new one
Averaging 2500-3000 miles a year (typical British bike milage) it’ll be knocking on the door of 30-40K miles.
One thing I might add, bargains can be had from buying a bike you want that has a more realistic mileage 30-50K the ones that dealerships will mostly avoid in trade-ins.
Most long distance (tourer) bikes are well looked after, serviced more often, as they have to be to take their owners 1000's of miles from their homes, without issue's.

Put a deposit on it.
Booked a return train ticket and overnight accommodation 354 miles each way
Travelled up, during a bloody tube strike,( more money)
Stayed overnight, viewed the bike , paid for the bike and rode it home

It is, if you want to make it hard.
But who knows, patience and hard nosed bargaining might yet win the day.
An important if counter intuitive factor is that if you search out a bike with minimal miles, you are possibly looking at needing clutch replacement due to contamination from oil seeping through the oil seals at rear or engine.
I might have been unlucky but I’m two for two on my K25s bought with low mileage…
You want a bike of this age to have at least 50k on it. The important thing is how well it has been looked after, the condition and how the miles were done (unfortunately it’s difficult to find this out). A garage queen is more likely to have problems down the road.
