Hi, Could one of our resident IT experts guide me to the best/cheapest place to buy a copy of XP (or older/newer) to put onto a laptop. Its a Dell laptop that has been well and truly ********* by someone who didnt know what they were doing.
Does anyone have a copy from a computer they no longer have ??
Thanks

If you can find someone with a disk you won't need to buy a licence.
After you install, you have to activate the licence online, but you have the option to do on the phone.
It will give you a phone number for the help desk. Tell them you have to reinstall and you need a new code please...

The don't seem to care and just give the code out without much trouble.. Which is useful when you want to use the same disk "when your hard drive failed and had to be replaced"..

If you want a legit copy of your own, you can't go wrong with this online company, for PC builders. I got my Vista for £55.00. Here's the link for XP home edition. I think you'll be surprised at the price!
