This excellent bit of kit is marred by the fact that the power jack from the jacket keeps coming unplugged from the socket on the bike. Easily fixed with a strip of duct tape but I wonder if anybody has found a more permanent and elegant solution?

A bit bemused by that. Magnet and I have the same jacket and never had a problem. Is there an issue with the lead that connects to the battery? Perhaps try replacing it? I think the gerbin leads fit.

Likewise, used them for years and never had one come unplugged

You can see that the centre pin is split.
If you have a thin blade you can open the split up slightly, which will improve the friction of the fit.

As Neil says, the DC Barrel connector, should (in most normal uses) be reasonably tight.

Just check as well that the male and female parts are of the same diameter. The sizes are:

Optimate is 5.5 x 2.5mm

Powerlet is 5.5 x 2.5mm

Gerbing is 5.5 x 2.5mm

Keis is 5.5 x 2.1mm (ie smaller)
is 5.5 x 2.5mm

if you kit / lead is second hand, maybe they don’t match?

I think Neil’s got it right!

Here’s pictures of the brand new one of these I bought yesterday from MotoLegends - you can see the pin has a bigger gap in it than on yoursIMG_1617.jpeg

Thanks Gents,
The kit was bought brand new from Motolegends about a year ago but last weekend was the firt time I've had the need to power it up. I'll have a fettle of the pin and see what happens.
