Warranty for sat nav bought on eBay bay

Hi having looked at garmin warranty terms it states that Garmin warranty is for 1 year from date of purchase and the owner must have the original sales receipt. Obviously they will repair said unit or replace etc but not necessarily under warranty. So, has anyone here sent a unit in that was bought off e bay or a member and what was your outcome?? Tempted by a new boxed 395 on eBay bay but not wanting to find myself without a safety net...

I bought a Nav 5 off ebay. It failed after a while. Phoned Garmin and they determined from the serial number that it was still in warranty (less than a year?) so replaced it!

Thanks. Spoke to garmin today. Apparently a screen shot of sold auction will satisfy as receipt. So all good...and warranty would commenced from then provided device not been registered.
