Hi, I have tonight replaced the igntion sensor and put enough of the bike back together to be able to start it.

The bike seemed to run fine and I was just letting it warm up..... Still no bars on the RID. Don't ask me why but I looked at a connector on the frame on the nearside by the air box and thought this isn't pushed in all the way and fiddled with it (the connector!). Immediately I touched the connector (side stand) the engine stopped and then the rev counter went mad. After various curses I checked and this was the sidestand switch. I bypassed it. Still playing silly buggars. I looked around in the general area and unplugged the neutral switch connector. While doing this the cable to the neutral switch fell apart in my hand just by the connector. I have now shorted out both the side stand connector with a crock clipped shorting cable, and if I take it off RID goes out. So far so good. I shorted out the neutral connector. Tested continuity on the fuse box side of the connector and it is a few ohms (5-10).

HOWEVER - the engine now cranks over but there is no sign of life and no fuel being sprayed out of the injectors.

Can someone wiser than me remind me what no fuel with RID AND engine cranking and fuel pump running when the ignition switch is turned means? Will the engine turn over but not inject fuel if the neutral switch is not closed? I am now wondering whether my tugging at the neutral connector has broken the probably very frail wire between the connector and the loom.

It is bloody cold outside (with no garage) and I wanted the bike for work tomorrow, and the forecast is shit weather for the rest of the week.

Any ideas?

Never let a machine know your in a hurry.

If it aint broke don't fix or fiddle with it.

The bright side - you're going to know a lot about th e bike when you eventually have it running.
No help here though. I don't have an oilhead.
