If it was RAC - they won't be home yet
Oh dear a GS broken down, we don't want any of that!! Not a nice afternoon to be on the hard shoulder of any motorway, hope they were sorted quickly. How come the RAC were in attendance?
I didn't bother to stop and ask as I was in the overtaking lane

Any lane is the overtaking lane isn't it, including the one to the left of the solid white line..........................err ahem.. on a separate note, when my GS ran out of fuel suddenly and unexpectedly after reading half full for an hour and a bit RAC man came and rescued me, after Police closed off the motorway to extricate me from the central reservation.......,. It was definitely a brown trousers moment, especially as the volume of traffic prevented me from being able to coast across the other lanes to get to the hard shoulder.
I wanna know which lane is the overtaking lane ....
Easy, it's the one next to the being overtaken (by a GS, natch) lane. It can be any lane you like; it's a biker's right.
And, anyway, it's so much easier than 'fast' lane or 'slow lane' or even lanes 1, 2, 3 and now in some cases 4 or even 5.
