Was It You?

Oi Klankers, can you post a link to that section, it sounds like it nmight be of interest.

Please list all the key strokes required to get to it and whether or not my standard keyboard will be OK or if I need to get a special one.:D

Scotch seckshun fer Scotchmen.

Just smack any keys with your forehead - works for me.

From some of the responses posted by the Scottish section I would think that the A7 just south of Canonbie heading south would be the best bet.

Odd, isn't it?

If someone posted a much repeated query in the Beakchat section and someone else commented about not reading the relevant section before posting, hardly anyone would raise an eyebrow. Happens all the time.

Dare to post anything like that in the Scotch Section and whole phalanx of dickheads suddenly decide to start posting in it just to be be offended on someone elses behalf.
Odd. isn't it?

If someone posted a much repeated query regarding 'best roads' in the Wales section or any other section with great biking roads, they always get help and advice from the 'locals' who know.

A cynic might see it as you guys being anti tourist :augie

Oh you and your side kick decided to delete your posts.
Its a shame, your both so entertaining
You should start your own website.

We already have, Deeley. :thumb

Any chance of popping over and paying me the fecking money for the T shirt that you ordered?

Whats wrong with people asking for advice from locals, I thought thats what these forums were for

I used to quite fancy touring Scotland on a bike untill I started looking at this forum and realised what rude and ignorant people live there. Now I think I'd rather make the short journey to Dover and explore France and the rest of Europe rather than slog up to a wet, cold, midge infested sh*thole full of rude people who's idea of good food is dipping a Mars Bar in the chip fryer.

I don't think you're quite ready for your RTW just yet, my friend.....:augie

Compared to the Frogs, the Jocks are positively charming.:D

But Wales is just a small corner of England FFS, it only takes half an hour to ride from one end to the other. And that's with a pie stop included.

We're expected to route plan over an area the size of Europe based on a 'can anyone tell me if there's any roads in Scotchland' basis.:D

Anyway, what's wrong with being a grumpy feck every now and again? It's not a trait purely limited to the Scotch Section, is it?

Geography was obviously not one of your strong points... next you'll be saying Ireland is a small rock in a puddle :D

No one is expecting you to plan anything.... if you want to help, that's fine... if you don't, then just ignore the request.

We are all 'grumpy fekers' but it seems the further North you go the more miserable folk get... especially in winter.

......

I'll take you to task on that statement, Paul.

I've just had a look around other sections trying to find requests for routes/accom/pubs, trying to suss out just how frequent these requests are in the other Sections.

Even the Irish Section doesn't get anywhere near the same amount of requests as the Scots section - even though their message traffic is above ours. Wales pales into insignificance regarding route requests and so do all the other sections. So comparing responses in other sections does not give any meaningful weight to your argument.

I also noticed that some requests for routes in the Scots Section go unanswered by anyone. What should we deduce from that? Does it mean that there is no-one at all in the Scots Section willing to help out? I think not.
There's more than the 'usual suspects' post on here - yet there is still a deafening silence from everyone on some request threads. Why?

I'd say that the lack of enthusiasm from everyone when it comes to posting replies stems from a general antipathy towards endless requests for the most basic information. All Ronno has done is voice that opinion.
And it is an opinion shared by me, I've been more than happy to point out roads etc in the past and will continue to do so where I see fit. But sometimes I just look and think "can't you do at least a bit of legwork yourselves?"

But, if someone dares voice that opinion, then it's open season as far as some are concerned. Perhaps we should just post back-slapping messages and not bother with anything that has a bit of bite.
