Was the 2006 year GS the best one yet?

Looking at all the various threads on recalls it got me thinking why mine hasn't had a single one :confused: being in the Forces I bought mine from Germany and imported it so I thought I'd just been missed for any recall notices, phoned dealer today with chassis number and he informs me that my bike isn't outstanding any recalls, so no ring antenna, no fuel pump controller, no ABS wiring and no brake unions falling apart. So either my dealer is full of sh*t or BMW finally got it right in 2006 and should have stopped there, in fact maybe it's just my bike that they got right and is in fact the pinnacle of German engineering and everything else before and since is poo :nenau
 
Most definately YES!...but you're in the wrong section, my 1150 SE is a 2006:P
 
I had no recalls or problems on my 55 GS and had no problems untill now with the 08 GSA, it's first recall, but the 08 is a far better bike :thumb2
 
Mine was 2006 and I had a host of issues with it so I guess its the luck of the draw. Without a doubt the problems have been blown out of proportion as there are 1000s of happy owners but that’s little comfort when you're one of the unlucky ones. I'm unlikely to buy a new BMW again
 
Maybe it's because mine was destined for the German market and they build em better for that and the bikes built for the UK market are all built on a friday afternoon :nenau

So it's not just me then, I went in to dealers a couple of months back and asked the question about missed recalls, and I to got the same reply, no recalls at all against my vin number. So my 2006 GSA was either destined for Germany or it wasn't built on a Monday or a Friday.
Don't see any point in changing for a newer model.:beerjug:
 
Mine's an '06 and apart from the almost obligatory FPC failure (which Wollastons sorted pdq and most importantly, free) no probs (touch wood!):thumb

I'm the same, I could easily change to a '10 GSA but I can't see the point when mine hasn't even reached 10K yet (not my fault, shitty job:()
 
Mine's an '05, and I'm told there are no outstanding recalls, although the FPC has been swapped out twice for free, as has the battery.....but that's BMW just being nice, isn't it?
