I have a copy of the 5th edition BMW RepRom, which has served fine, until now. I have nearly completely dismantled my '08 GSA, which has huhghlightedsoem differnces between teh 2008 on MU models and those coverd by the 5th edition of the BMW RepRom.
I have had a trawl around the interweb and have only found this version, or earlier. Did BMW produce a 6th edition to cover the '08 on models, or am I on a hiding to nothing?
The main differences in the engine is the timing gear and balance shaft. Earlier model had a bearing in the timing cover for the auxiliary shaft, which was retained by a bolt, later moesl, like mine have a threaded nut which retains the gear wheel. WIth the nut removed I can move that gear wheel by hand forward by 15 mm or so, then it comes up against a hard stop somewhere. I want to be sure that this just the woodruff key locking it up and not something else that I need to undo first. I don't want to put a puller on it until I know it should be free.
So, I'm looking for a later copy of the RepRom , or soeone to advise that yes it should just pull off once the nut has been rmoved...
